Husayn was the grandson of prophet and in Shia Islam considered the second infallible Imam after Ali (PBUH).
Yazid was the Islamic Caliph (King) of that time and did not respect Islam laws. he drinked wine and played with dogs and many other sin of Islam.
so Husayn (PBUH) invited people to make an revolution and change the government to a real Islamic Government. first people accepted and promised to help him.
so he Immigrated by all his family and children from mecca to Kufa (the center of people who promised to support him). before reaching to Kufa the military of Yazid surronded him and killed him and 72 of his followers and all his family captured and the people of Kufa did not help him due to pressures and threats of Yazid.
this made a high effect in history of Islam and the Muslims of all countries understood that there is two main different way in Islam and the Yazid Government is not the true Islam.
actually Husain by his blood guaranteed the survival of true Islam.
