There is no such thing as "suicide jihad". There is a tendency by Jihadist organizations to engage in suicide bombing. In Islam, there is a strong tradition and recognition of martyrdom (Esteshhaad) where one of the easiest ways to gain entry to heaven is die while fighting in a holy war (Lesser Jihad) against "the enemies of Islam". This has been taken by Jihadist organizations as a justification for suicide bombing, where "enemies of Islam" dies and the assailant dies, and therefore goes straight to heaven. Suicide bombing as a terrorist tactic is quite common among Jihadist organizations and even some more secular Arab terrorist organizations.
Of course, the legitimacy of suicide bombing is hotly debated in Islamic circles.
