Men might want to take Jesus at His Word on the Lake of Fire... or as the King James Version says: "hell fire."

Matthew 18:9 reads in the KJV: "...it is better for thee to enter into Life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into HELL FIRE."

The Literal Bible says: "...than two eyes having to be thrown into GEHENNA of fire."

This "Gehenna" fire is the "Lake of Fire" Jesus speaks of in other passages.

Gehenna is a "valley of (the son of) Hinnom; ge-henna (or Ge-Hinnom), a valley of Jerusalem."

The Valley of Hinnom [Gehenna] as Jesus uses it in His warnings about "hell fire" [Gehenna fire] shall become a "LITERAL LAKE OF FIRE" ... ignited when Jesus returns... where the wicked will be cast [and other things], and which shall continue to burn throughout His entire thousand year rule over the nations as a constant warning and reminder to them "not to sin."

The prophecy of the time of His return to earth, "making war," reveals that the Beast and False Prophet, the prophesied leaders of the coming Great Tribulation, [whom men are taught by their religions today will be one man called 'the Antichrist'] will be the first to be captured and cast aliveinto this "infernal valley lake."

"And the Beast was taken, and with him the False Prophet... These both were cast alive into a Lake of Fire burning with brimstone." (Rev.19:20)

Unlike the fabled Dante-esque "hell fire" of modern religious beliefs that we're told burns and singes and tortures and causes excruciating pain to the alleged nerve-endings of wicked souls... yet never seems to be able to burn anything up -- this coming Lake of Fire of which Jesus speaks; the Gehenna Valley outside of Jerusalem, BURNS UP WHAT IS THROWN INTO IT.

"...ye shall tread down the wicked; for THEY SHALL BE ASHES UNDER THE SOLES OF YOUR FEET in the Day that I shall do this, saith the Lord of hosts." (Malachi 4:3)

[the Lord of host's name is Jesus Christ; the Creator God of the Old Testament - see John 1:3 -- the "consuming fire" [Deut.4:24 & Heb.12:29] who shall set Gehenna Valley on fire when He comes... and "baptize the wicked" in it].

"...He shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit, and with fire: whose fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly purge His floor, and gather His wheat into the garner; but He will BURN UP THE CHAFF WITH UNQUENCHABLE FIRE." (Matt.3:11-12).

If you can imagine "a lake burning"... then that's what the Lake of Fire will be like. An immense flaming trash dumpjust outside of Jerusalem [the literal Gehenna Valley of which Jesus speaks in the Bible; He doesn't mince Words or speak lightly of such things]. It will be a REAL FIRE burning in that REAL VALLEY, that shall incinerate real physical people and things.

Jesus is One whom men would be well advised to take at His Word. He means what He says.

And if you've ever been burned by real fire -- you know what it's like. Only the Lake of Fire will be bigger.

The lake of fire is well identified in Revelation 20 and 21. Its the place where Souls are destroyed. Many church systems refuse to speak of this place because it does not fit their narrative, of an eternal hell....however its real. The death of your soul is referred to as "The Second Death" because it would naturally follow the death of your flesh body. Paul explains this phenomenon in 1st Corinthians 15
Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.


The Scripture never speaks of mankind being eternally punished in a Lake of Fire. This is reserved for Satan and his demons who are spiritual. Physical mankind will burn to ashes when placed in the Lake and die - the 2nd and final death post the Judgement Process.

The Apostle Peter tells us of the end 'purification' of the Earth and Universe via the Lake of Fire:

Lastly, the Parable of Lazarus and the Rich Man gives the reader a glimpse of the approaching Lake of Fire that will consume all that is of the old world.
