What is the Muslim view on IVF?

As a Muslim woman i can tell you on a basic level our attituted to infertitiy treatment. Islam permitts any treatment which involves using an egg & a sperm from the married couple, so we do not have egg/sperm donation etc, but as long as the egg and sperm is from the couple they ivf etc is permitted.

There are many views on this topic.

Firstly, Allah will choose who will have a baby and who will not. For example, the Qur'an states, "He bestow female (infant) upon whom he wills, and bestow male (infant) up whom he wills... and he leaves childless to who he wills." this conveys that ONLY Allah will decide who will have a baby and who shall not.

However, IVF is acceptable under strict rules. Such as, if Allah decided that the couple cannot have kids physically (through sexual intercourse) it is then acceptable that the couple can have an IVF only if their own sperm and egg is used (not from a sperm donnar). Also, the embryo has to go inside the mother's womb.
