In the canopy in the Gurdwara.
The Guru Granth Sahib is the embodiment of all the of previous gurus, Guru Gobind Singh Ji commanded that the Guru Granth Sahib be our guru after him. The Guru Granth Sahib isn't though of as a book, it is thought of as a Guru, a person. Notice that the Guru Granth Sahib does not have page number, but aangs (body parts). As every indiviudual has a room in which they sleep, the Guru Granth Sahib has a room to rest in as well.
The rest room in a Gurdwara is for the Guru Granth Sahib. It is kept there during the night.
The Sikhs Tenth Guru, Guru Gobind Singh, passed on the Guruship to The Guru Granth Sahib Ji, or their Holy Scripture. Some people see their Scripture merely as a 'Book' but to a Sikh, The Guru Granth Sahib is considered as a Living Guru. Some people also see that although Sikhs do not believe in Idol worship, they think that worshiping to a 'Book' is contradictory. According to a Sikh, when the the Gurus passed the Guruship or Guru Gaddi to one-another over time, Guru Nanak Dev Ji came in the form of the next Gurus. Guru Nanak has come in the form of Guru Granth Sahib Ji or prayers/Gurbani. Sikhs believe in One God, some people call God as Allah, Ram and other names, but those names are all pointing to One God. Each religion doesn't have different Gods but it is the same God. Also there are ELEVEN Gurus of the Sikh faith and not only ten. Guru Granth sahib is the last Guru of the Sikhs for Eternity. P.S the Guru Granth Sahib is not only for Sikhs but for the rest of humanity. Guru Granth Sahib Ji is a Spiritual Guide for Humanity.
The Sikh Holy book is considered as the Immortal Guru / Teacher after the 10th and the last Guru, i.e. Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji and He said, after me this will be your Guru. Consider this is Me, not mere a book. So, sikh society, as directed, considered the Holy book as Guru and abide by the thought that a Guru / Spiritual Leader woke up early morning and same time give respect while HE sleep, where no noise, only cleanliness and peace.
The Guru Granth Sahib is a book similar to our bible but there are several significant differences. Firstly our bible is the documentation of God and of Jesus and of creation and Jesus's and his disciples lives. The Guru Granth Sahib is considered to host God and the Gurus. The Guru Granth Sahib is seen as a living Guru and is treated with much reverence, Christians would happily find a copy of the bible in the library or for sale on the Internet. To Sikh persons this would be highly offensive. The Guru Granth Sahib is treated as a living Guru. It has its own bedroom/rest room within the Gurdwara (Sikh temple) and is placed there every evening and brought out every morning. It is attended when it is in the temple and is fanned and protected from the heat as you would a person.
AnswerA gurdwara is the place where Sikhs worship in common. Gurdwaras are made up of the following spaces:- Entrance hall and shoe room (shoes are removed upon entering)- School room(s) for the education of children; this is usually near the entrance- Diwan hall which is where worship takes place with men and women sitting on separate sides. The Takht is found in the Diwan hall and is where the sacred scriptures (Guru Granth Sahib) is placed during worship. Paintings of gurus are normally to be seen on the wall behind the Takht.- Rest room which is attached to the Diwan, and is where the Guru Granth Sahib is taken to 'rest' after worship or at the end of the day.- Langar hall which is where worshippers eat after the service- Kitchen for the preparation of the meal to be eaten after worship
Akal Takht Sahib was revealed by Guru Hargobind Sahib on June 15,1606. The foundation stone of the building of Akal Takht Sahib was laid down by Guru Hargobind Sahib himself. (Guru Hargobind Sahib did not built or create Akal Takht Sahib, he revealed it. Akal Takht Sahib belonged to Waheguru and it was the Almighty who could have created Akal Takht Sahib). The rest of the structure was completed by Baba Buddha (the veteran Sikh servant) and by Bhai Gurdas (Sikh scholar) only. No mason or any other person was permitted to participate in the construction of the structure. Guru Hargobind Sahib himself was the Custodian of the Takht of Waheguru. The Akal Takht = Seat for temporal Affairs for SikhsThe Harmandhir Sahib = Seat for Spiritual affaires for the Sikhs

Guru Nanak started off Sikhism. He chose the 2nd Guru (Guru Agnad) as his 2 sons failed to complete a series of errands whilst Agnad did them for the Guru. The rest of the information is all pretty much the same, the present Guru would chose someone to success them if this person was devoted enough etc.....The 2nd last Guru was worried that someone might change the stories slightly, so he wrote everything into the book called the Guru Granth Sahib. This is the current and final guru.Any extra info use wikipedia by searching there names to see what they contributed to Sikhism or go to http://sikhism.about.com/od/tengurus/tp/Ten-Gurus-Timeline.htm for all of the Gurus and a bit of info on them.hope helped.
Takhat Sachkhand Sri Hazoor Abchalnagar Sahib is the principal shrine at about half a Kilometer from the left bank of the river Godavari, Nanded, Maharashtra. It marks the site where the Guru had his camp in 1708 A.D. after the departure of the emperor Bahadur Shah. The tenth Guru held his court and congregation here. It is the site of his own tent where he was convalescing after he was attacked by assassins. It is the place from where the tenth Guru rose to heaven along with his horse Dilbag. In 1708 being prescient of the end of his earthly role, the Guru had despatched Banda Singh with five of his Sikhs to Punjab and Mata Sahib Devan under a separate escort to Delhi before the stabbing incident. He told the rest of his retinue to retire to their homes if they so wished, but he bade one Bhai Santokh Singh to stay on here and keep Guru ka langar going. many others also chose to remain. Together they built a room over the platform where the used to sit while holding his court and installed Guru Granth Sahib on it. They called it Takhat Sahib. Guru Gobind Singh, while conferring Guruship on the holy Book, had himself named Nanded as Abchalnagar (means steadfast city) after the first word of a hymn read at random on the occasion. Sachkhand (means region of Truth) had been used by Guru Nanak Dev to mean the abode of God.The present building of the Takhat Sahib was got constructed by Maharaja Ranjit Singh with money, artisans and labour sent from Punjab during early 1830s. The complex of the Takhat Sahib is spread over several hectares. Besides the Takhat Sahib proper it also includes two other shrines, Bunga Mai Bhago ji comprising a large room where Guru Granth Sahib is seated and some historical weapons like steel quoits, a broad sword, a steel bow and an arrow, a gilded dagger-sized sword, a few swords and a mace are at display, and Angitha Bhai Daya Singh and Dharam Singh. These two survivors of the battle of Chamkaur, who were among the Panj Piare.
There are different rooms in the gurdwara. If it to be classed as a gurdwara it must contain a langer hall and a copy of the Guru Granth Sahib. Most Gurdwaras also contain a School Room to teach young Sikhs teachings and basic subjects, a kitchen to prepare food to be served in the langer hall. A shoe room to leave shoes in as they are not allowed in the gurdwara to show respect to the guru. A rest room is also included and several toilets. Hope this helps!
A gurdwara (or gurudwara), meaning "the doorway to the guru," is a place of worship for Sikhs, the followers of Sikhism and also a place where weary travellers and pilgrims may rest and eat. A gurudwara is also referred to as a "Sikh temple". The most significant gurudwara of the Sikhs is the Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar, Punjab, India.
