Roman Catholic AnswerNothing, the Catholic Church never fell. The Catholic Church was established by Our Blessed Lord when He was on earth, and He appointed St. Peter as His first Vicar to rule the Church on earth in His Name. Since then, there has always been a Vicar on the throne of Peter for the simple reason that Our Blessed Lord promised to be with His Church until the end of time, and it would never fail. In addition, He sent the Holy Spirit to guide It into all truth. To question the fall of the Church is to call God a liar and unable to fulfill His promises, which is nonsense.

The Catholic Church fell apart mostly because of people questioning things like indulgences and the Crusades. After Martin Luther posted the 95 Theses on the doors of the Church and it got published the reputation went pretty much down hill from there.

Who led the Roman Catholic Church and The Greek Orthodox Church after the split?

There is no Roman Catholic Church. It's just Catholic, not Roman Catholic. Roman is an epithet first commonly used in England after the protestant revolt to describe the Catholic Church. It is never used by the official Catholic Church. The Catholic Church has always been led by Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. Jesus appointed St. Peter and his successors as His Vicars on earth to lead His Church, St. Leo IX was pope when the Greeks split, but he died that year, his successor was Victor II. The Greek Orthodox Church, I am assuming was led by the Patriarch which was Michael Cerularius at that time.
