The seats are in the area in which the prayers take place and the Torah is read. This area is sometimes called the sanctuary. In Orthodox synagogues, men and women are seated separately.

Some synagogues have an additional area in which food may be served after services.

These may or may not include the rest room, the coat room, the office and the kitchen. But they will ALWAYS include the sanctuary, where services are conducted, and the class room, if the synagogue is large enough that it doesn't have to also use the sanctuary for classes.

a synagogue only needs 1 room to be considered a synagogue. What makes it a synagogue is the Jewish people inside it.

A synagogue needs just one room, commonly called the sanctuary, where the congregation can convene worship services. Synagogues frequently also have a social hall where the members can eat and drink after services. This additional space can serve as a study hall, library and classroom, but if the synagogue has the resources, it is common to set aside space as a library. For a small congregation, the library may also serve as the rabbi's office, but larger synagogues also have office space. In a small synagogue, the social hall may not have any kitchen facilities, but larger synagogues have kitchens, and they have classroom space separate from the social hall. A common feature of many synagogues is a movable wall between the sanctuary and the social hall. This is because overflow capacity is needed for some events, notably High Holy Day services in the fall, but also large funerals and weddings. Even larger synagogues sometimes have a small chapel so that the small congregation that gathers for weekday services is not dwarfed by the main sanctuary.
