Literally, Jihad means 'struggle'. In Islam, Jihad means struggle in the way of Almighty Allah (God). That is to strive to bring peace, harmony, justice and truthfulness in human society. It could be done:

1. By spending money on charity, helping the poor and the needy. Establishing schools, colleges, hospitals and other means of service to humanity.

2. By preaching truth, honesty, love, kindness, tolerance and service to humanity. By spreading knowledge.

3. By using force against the forces of tyranny, oppression, injustice, lawlessness etc. Let a person lay his life for this noble cause.

4. The greatest Jihad is one's struggle against one's own self. One must fight against one's own wicked passions and sinful wishes and acts.
