What was Emerson's view of the puritan religion?

I am related to Ralph Waldo Emerson, my sister married a Hispanic man who really
could wrestle fight well and turns out to be a relative of Waldo. Ralph reminds me of
Mark Twain on poetry. The Puritans were writers of poetry and falsely blamed for burning
people and any educated man or woman knew that. In the recent history of Ralph
Waldo Emerson in America virtually all teachings of the Puritan Constitution were
revered respected required reading. Only in recent modern times of cheap alcohol,
tar huffing (pot) and no legal system with frequent beatings and isolation, have anti
puritanical ideologies blossomed into the complete revision of history, making scientists
superheroes and religion teachers entertaining amorality bigots or slaves of gangsters.
Most modern poets have tried to expand the freedom to swim nude, the right for
children to play unsupervised, the unseen dignity of the young lovers, and the Puritans
were the first to protect primitive human rights, not the destroyers of human rights.
Emerson and many others gave mild criticism of the old ways to improve joy, not
to attack the ancestors, Emerson loved all people and Puritan and it showed as wisdom.
