What was Muhammad's occupation?

According to Islamic sources, Muhammad was a Trader under the employment of Khadija, who was so impressed with his conduct, they later married!

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) worked first as shepherd then as a trader on behalf of Khadija (God be pleased with her) who admired his honesty, seriousness, and refraining himself from drinking alcohols and/or performing illegal sex without marriage besides his popular good characters and conduct among the Makkahns. Accordingly, she offered to marry him especially that the prophet was belonging to the highest family in Makkah (or Mecca). They later got married and Khadija was the best support to him when he was chosen by God as the prophet and when Quran revealed to him by God. She was the first woman to convert to Islam.
