The land known biblically as the land of the Canaanites is bounded on the west by the Mediterranean Sea and on the east by the Jordan River and the Jordanian Desert. It thus forms a strategic corridor between Egypt, to the south, and Syria and Mesopotamia, to the north and east. Control of this corridor provided a buffer state against invasion, or a springboard for invasion at the other end.

The first place the tabernacle rested in Canaan was at a location called Gilgal in the region of Jericho. This site served as the base for the Israelites as they began their conquest of the land of Canaan under the leadership of Joshua.

Israelites usually departed from Canaan because they were forcibly extirpated from the land. They were deported to Mesopotamia on several occasions and deported to other locations in the Roman Empire during the Roman Occupation of Judea,
After settling in Canaan, the Israelites kept the Ark of the Covenant in a tent known as the Tabernacle. This portable sanctuary served as a place of worship and housed the Ark, which was considered the dwelling place of God's presence among His people. The Tabernacle moved with the Israelites during their travels and was central to their religious practices.

The land of Canaan was divided by the Israelites around the 12th century BCE, during the time of Joshua. This division happened after the Israelites had crossed the Jordan River and entered the land following the Exodus from Egypt.
The Israelites went to Egypt because there was a famine in the land of Canaan, where they were living. Joseph, one of the Israelites, had risen to a position of power in Egypt and invited his family to seek refuge there.
Joshua served under Moses: He was a leader of the Israelites in battle (Exodus 17) and with Moses when he received the 10 Commandments atop the mountain. (Exodus 32) He was the son of Nun (Numbers 11) and was one of only two -out of ten- men sent in to examine the Promised Land who came back with a favorable report. (Numbers 13) He was appointed by God to succeed Moses as leader of the Israelites (Numbers 27).
Abraham came with his family to Canaan (Genesis ch.12). The traditional date for this event is 1737 BCE.Moses led the Israelites towards Canaan but died before they entered the land (Deuteronomy ch.34). A few days later, Joshua brought the Israelites into Canaan (Israel). Our traditions place that event in 1272 BCE.Our traditions state that Abraham founded what we call Judaism. people will settle in a certain place so they have easy access to export and import economics. they will also settle where there's resources.
Abraham and his people were semi-nomadic herdsmen, so they moved around and didn't settle in one place for ever. They went to the promised land of Canaan, but lived in several places such as Hebron, Ai, Schechem and even Egypt for a while.
