AnswerBecause the author of Psalm 3 talks about those who rise up against him, and of his faith in the Lord, this psalm is traditionally thought to have been written by King David in the tenth century, when he fled from Absalom.

However, scholars say that the psalms are are genre that did not exist at the time of King David. All the psalms were written over a period of more than two hundred years, during or after the Babylonian Exile. So, Psalm 3 was written by an unknown author, probably in the sixth or fifth century BCE.
