Years later, Mother received a call from God to serve the poorest of the poor, which she did in India with the permission of her local bishop, and finally from the Vatican, which gave her permission to found a new religious Order with the specific mission of serving the poorest of the poor. The Missionaries of Charity started in India, but grew to be world-wide in a remarkably short time. Mother spoke everywhere and went everywhere where her Sisters were, and to the United States to speak to the United Nations, and Sweden to speak at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony.
