In Surah Al-Baqarah: 219, Allah Almight says "They ask Thee concerning Wine and Gambling, Say: In them is great sin, and some profit, for men; but the sin is greater than the profit."

In Surah Al Maeda: 90 It is stated "O ye who believe! Strong drink and games of chance and idols and divining arrows are only an infamy of Satan's handiwork. Leave it aside in order that ye may succeed."

In many other Ayahs of Different Chapters it is stated that Alchol should not be consumed.

What can Muslims not drink?

All forms of drinking alcohol are forbidden to Muslims, with the possible exception of medicine mixed with alcohol, if the medicine is urgently needed and is not available in a non-alcoholic form.Drinking alcohol is sinful in Islam and explicitly forbidden by God in Quran. Quran says (in meaning translation): " O you who believe! Intoxicants (all kinds of alcoholic drinks) and gambling..... are an abomination of Satan handiwork. so, avoid (strictly all) that abomination in order that you may be successful. Satan wants only to excite enmity and hatred between you with intoxicants (alcoholic drinks) and gambling, and hinder you from the remembrance of ALLAH (God) and from the prayer. So, will you not then abstain" (Quran, chapter 5/verse 90 and 91).EDIT: Some Muslims believe that mead is an acceptable alcoholic beverage, as there is a point in the Qur'ran/Koran/Quran that says not to enjoy beverages made from "fermented fruit and/or grain". Since Mead is made from Honey, some Muslims find it to be an acceptable drink.Hint: The edit above is not accurate enough. One should know that some restrictions that currently apply were not restricted all at once but gradually. Accordingly, one should be careful when using any license in Islam. Otherwise, one may say that alcohol is forbidden only before praying but not forbidden after the praying as Qur'an says (meaning English translation):"O you who have believed, do not approach prayer while you are intoxicated until you know what you are saying...." (4:43)
