The prophet Malachi (the last book in the Old Testament) gives this prophecy in Chapter 2, verse 16.
Malachi 2:16 "I hate divorce," says the LORD God of Israel, "and I hate a man's covering himself with violence as well as with his garment," says the LORD Almighty. So guard yourself in your spirit, and do not break faith. (NIV) Interested in knowing more on what God thinks about divorce?
Additional thoughts:
Jesus clearly points out that 'in the beginning' marriage was intended to be a permanent arrangement ( 'For this reason a man will leave his father and his mother and will stick to his wife, and the two will be one flesh'? So that they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has yoked together let no man put apart.") . Divorce was eventually allowed in certain circumstances because of humanity's "hardheartedness", and ONLY on the grounds of 'fornication' (sex outside of marriage), otherwise known as 'Adultery'. (Matthew 19:3-9)(Mark 10:2-9)
(Matthew 5:32)
there are no divorce laws it is a sin to divorce remember God loves you but hates sin
Im not sure what people have been telling you, but i can tell you for sure that the bible only has one view point on divorce, that it is bad. "So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate" (Matthew 19:6). another verse says the god of israel hates divorce, specifically. but the bible does say divorce is just in cases of unfaithfulness. if somone is telling you the bible condones divorce, they are wrong. it only condones it in cases of cheating spouses.
Yes, in Psalm 116:11. "I said in my haste, All men are liars."
God loves everyone but hates sin, if you don't believe me, the Bible will tell you the same thing.
John 4:20.
Yes, Jesus does explicitly state that he is the Son of God in the Bible.
God allows divorce because of the fallen nature of humanity and the presence of sin in the world. Divorce is permitted in cases of adultery or abandonment, as outlined in the Bible, to provide a way out of destructive and broken relationships.
1 John 4:20 - If someone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?[NKJV]
The Catholic Bible does not explicitly state that God hates sarcasm. While there are verses that encourage honest and respectful communication (like Ephesians 4:29), sarcasm is not directly addressed. The emphasis is generally on speaking with love and kindness, suggesting that communication should be constructive rather than hurtful. Interpretations of sarcasm's appropriateness may vary based on context and intent.
Can't remember this saying from the Bible. But God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble (1Peter 5.5)
"God hates me" is "Deus me odit" in Latin.
