Where in the bible has it been stated that drinking alcohol is a sin?

(Prov 20:1 KJV) Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise. Now ask your self is something that is"raging" and a "mocker" clean.

Jeremiah 35:5-6 (King James Version)5And I set before the sons of the house of the Rechabites pots full of wine, and cups, and I said unto them, Drink ye wine. 6But they said, We will drink NO wine: for Jonadab the son of Rechab our father commanded us, saying, Ye shall drink NO wine, neither ye, nor your sons for ever:

In these vs. it says NO wine not just a little this means no wine is ok. it doesent say they can drink a little as long as they dont get drunk.

Judges 9:13 Wine, which cheereth God and man

Yes i know there are many vs. such as this one that say wine is good but the fact is this is not talking about fermented wine.

• TIROSH: Fresh Grape Juice
• SHAKAR: Intoxicating, intensely alcoholic, strong drink

These are the three definitions of wine in the Old Testament taken from the very first written bible

In any dictionary made in the 1860's or before will say that wine is fermented and unfremented we today have changed the meanings of many words

Believing the word wine every time you see it in The Bible is fermented,would be like saying every time you see the word man in the bible that it is a male all because we today have changed too much.

The Bible makes it plain that drunkenness is inappropriate, and not the sort of activity we're meant to pursue with our bodies. Instead of losing ourselves in worldly pursuits, we are to focus on God.

Ephesians 5:18 (NKJV)

18 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit

Christians are also commanded to not allow their bodies to be "mastered" by anything (1 Corinthians 6:12; 2 Peter 2:19). Drinking alcohol in excess is undeniably addictive.

1 Corinthians 6:12(NKJV)

12 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

2 Peter 2:19(NKJV)

19 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whom a person is overcome, by him also he is brought into bondage.

Alcohol is not, in and of itself, tainted by sin. It is drunkenness and addiction to alcohol that a Christian must absolutely refrain from (Ephesians 5:18; 1 Corinthians 6:12).

The scriptures teach the avoidance of intoxicating drink. Nonetheless, the Bible recognizes the proper controlled, medicinal use of alcohol (1 Tim. 5: 23), but drinking intoxicating drinks for the sake of drunkenness or social conformity, even in moderation, is forbidden. The Christian is to "abstain from all appearance of evil" (1 Thess. 5: 22).

Alcohol, consumed in small quantities, is neither harmful nor addictive. In fact, some doctors advocate drinking small amounts of red wine for its health benefits, especially for the heart. Consumption of small quantities of alcohol is a matter of Christian freedom. Drunkenness and addiction are sin. However, due to the biblical concerns regarding alcohol and its effects, due to the easy temptation to consume alcohol in excess, and due to the possibility of causing offense and/or stumbling of others, it is usually best for a Christian to abstain entirely from drinking alcohol.

1 Timothy 5:23 (NKJV)

23 No longer drink only water, but use a little wine for your stomach's sake and your frequent infirmities. Paul tells Timothy to drink wine in this verse. Apparently, Timothy had some problems with his stomach and illness, so Paul proscribed wine as a cure

1 Thess.5:22 (NKJV)

22 Abstain from every form of evil.
