This was at Meribah (also known as Kadesh-barnea) and is South-West of the Dead Sea in the top corner of the Sinai peninsula:-

Numbers 20:7-13 13 Then the LORD spoke to Moses:8 "Take the staff and assemble the community, you and Aaron your brother, and then speak to the rock before their eyes. It will pour forth its water, and you will bring water out of the rock for them, and so you will give the community and their beasts water to drink."

9 So Moses took the staff from before the LORD, just as he commanded him.10 Then Moses and Aaron gathered the community together in front of the rock, and he said to them, "Listen, you rebels, must we bring water out of this rock for you?"11 Thenraised his hand, and Mosesstruck the rock twice with his staff. And water came out abundantly. So the community drank, and their beasts drank too. 12 Then the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, "Because you did not trust me enough to show me as holy before the Israelites, therefore you will not bring this community into the land I have given them."

13 These are the waters of Meribah, because the Israelites contended with the LORD, and his holiness was maintained among them.

Where was the promised land of the Israelite's and how did they return?

Canaan was considered the Promised Land (Exodus ch.3). Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt (Exodus ch.12); and during the journey they depended on God to provide food and water. Moses struck a rock with his staff at God's command (Exodus ch.17) and water flowed from the rock. On another occasion Moses was commanded to merely speak to the rock, but water did not immediately flow, so he struck it a second time (Numbers ch.20). This showed God that Moses did not fully place all of his trust in Him because if he had complete faith, he would have waited and known that water would eventually come. As a punishment for his doubt, God never allowed Moses to enter into the Promised Land (Numbers ch.20, Deuteronomy ch.32), and he died before it was actually reached. As a result of this, Joshua took Moses' position (Numbers ch.27) and was the actual person who led the Israelites into Canaan (Joshua ch.3-4).

Why does Moses hand became leprosy?

Moses' hand became leprous as a sign from God to demonstrate His power and to convince the Israelites of Moses' divine mission. In Exodus 4:6-7, God instructed Moses to place his hand inside his cloak, and when he removed it, it was leprous, symbolizing a miraculous sign. This transformation served as a way to affirm Moses' role as a leader and messenger of God, helping to build faith among the people. God then commanded Moses to restore his hand to normal, further illustrating His authority over disease and healing.

In my opinion to the question on the virtue on believing, I would say that the virtue is faith. Faith is the substance of what we do NOT see, therefore, we believe only because of our faith. Bible is a great place to begin a search. I do believe that this is the greatest books EVER written.

What did Moses die of specifically?

Moses died of old age and was told when Moses begged God to pardon the Hebrews. SO, God told Moses that Moses would only get to see the promised land, which was his reward. SO Moses climbed to the top of a mountain and died and is in a better place with our Lord God. :)
