Synthetic gemstones possess the same properties as their natural counterparts but without the inclusions of any impurities.Synthetic gemstones also tend to react differently to UV light compared to natural gemstones.
They are the same thing: reference to a mineral that, when adequately cut and properly polished, are aesthetically pleasing to the eye and can fetch hefty prices. Examples: ruby, amethyst, turquoise, and lapis lazuli
By mining the same as any gemstone
Sapphire is the blue, gem form of the mineral corundum (Alluminium Oxide). Which is the same as Ruby.(Greek: σάπφειρος; sappheiros, 'blue stone', which probably referred instead at the time to lapis lazuli) is a gemstone variety of the mineral corundum, an aluminium oxide (α-Al2O3).
I wonder the same thing
That's exactly the same as asking what the prettiest colour is.
Corundum is the mineral that gives rise to ruby and sapphire gemstones. These two gemstone varieties are composed of the same mineral but exhibit different colors due to trace impurities. Their hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale makes them very durable and suitable for everyday wear in jewelry.
Ruby's chemical make up is AL2O3:CR, that means that every molecule in it has 2 atoms of aluminum, 3 atoms of oxygen connected to an atom of chromium. In the 1800's chemists figured out that by combining aluminum oxide with chromium at high heat they would get synthetic ruby. The process has been modified through the years but, chemically speaking, synthetic ruby is the same as natural ruby. From a retail point of view they are worlds apart and man-made stones must be marked as such and cannot be sold as ruby.
The value of a one carat ruby can vary greatly depending on the quality of the gemstone. On average, a one carat ruby can be worth anywhere from $1,000 to $10,000 or more. Factors such as color, clarity, cut, and origin can all impact the value of a ruby.
If they were opposite then they would be an oxymoron but, they are the same so, I would say a redundancy.
These mean the same thing. There is no difference.
The rubies used to create fissure-filled stones are generally of very low quality. This kind of ruby is usually made more porous with an acid treatment. Then it is heated with other materials that make glass when the ruby gets hot enough. The glass fills in pits in the ruby. Therefore, parts of the stone are ruby, but parts are actually glass. Whether you consider this ruby "real" is up to you since parts are ruby, but depending on the size of the fissures that are filled, a significant part of the stone can be glass. The stones can be pretty, but glass does not have the same properties or hardness of a ruby.
