Wow! Here is a can of worms to open. If you poll 100 Christians, you may well receive 100 different answers to which Bible is the best. Historicly, and literaraily, the King James version is concidered the worst translation for one reason, King James had it manipulated to justify his divorce. Another was Britian seperating from the Catholic church forming the Church of England, according to my notes. But, if you ask the most fundamental Christian Churches, they will not accept any translation other than the KJV. I personally do not like any of the translations of the Old Testament in Christian Bibles. If I want accuracy for scripture I go with Judaism's OT translation called the Tanakh. It seems to fit better as an excellent translation from the Hebrew to English language. As far as moderen translations go, the New International Version and American Standard Version are easier to read. They eliminated the "thees and thous, untos, and the verilies" which tend to be difficult to read, as modern english is so different than the older english spoken in King james' time (1611). What it comes down to is whichever translation you choose to go with is fine. What is important to Christians is not how The Bible was written, but that it was written, and studied for its messege for Christians.

ANOTHER ANSWER:

The fact is that most modern professing Christians have never read the Bible in its entirety, much less studied it. Few of them are concerned therefore about the authenticity of different versions of it.

It's their pastors, ministers and priests in whom they believe, trust and rely for authenticity regarding God and their salvation. Much like our present society worships and trusts the pharmaceutical companies, doctors and the government to save them from... well... whatever may come along.

The answer above demonstrates different aspects of the different translations... each one of which has good aspects as well as not so good ones. The result of which suggests that "comparing translations" if one decides to actually study the Bible might be a wise thing to do.

But in the end... it's the "attitude in one's heart" [humble or haughty] that determines whether or not one will derive the Truth from God's Word - if, indeed, they decide to read and study [or as Christ says: 'continue in My Word' - John 8:31]

The Truth is, that even in the days when Jesus walked the earth as a man, those in Judea who grew up hearing and learning the Scriptures long before they ended up published with all of its books under one cover, trusted their "religious leaders" to guide them in Scriptural matters, also.

And like most modern professing Christians, today... they felt sure of the authenticity of what they were being told by those they trusted, regarding the Scriptures.

Even Jesus' own disciples thought they had the Scriptures down pat as they walked with Him. But in the final analysis... only Jesus Christ can authenticate His inspired, written Words in the hearts and minds of those who read them. Because, until He did so with His disciples... they didn't really know, either:

"...beginning at Moses and all the prophets, He expounded unto them in all the Scriptures THE THINGS CONCERNING HIMSELF." (Luke 24:27 KJV)

How many folks, today, suppose or suspect [much less have authenticated] that the Scriptures are all about Jesus Christ?

And later, Jesus repeated his authentication of the Scriptures to more of His disciples:

"...'These are the Words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you [before He was murdered and rose again], that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the Law of Moses, and in the Prophets, and in the Psalms, CONCERNING ME. THEN OPENED HE THEIR UNDERSTANDING, that they might UNDERSTAND THE SCRIPTURES." (verses 44-45)

Jesus Christ is the One who authenticates the Scriptures in the hearts and minds of the readers of His Living Word. It's He who searches for the thirsting hearts and minds for the proper attitude and approach to them, to see who is worthy of its authentication:

"...'I will bless those who have humble and contrite hearts, who TREMBLE AT MY WORD..." (Isa.66:2 NLTNew Living Translation)

Bible versions and translations aside... Jesus Christ, [the Almighty Creator God of the Old Testament and the soon-returning Savior of the world -- John 1:1-3] is the official authenticator of the Bible in the trembling hearts of its readers... for they are His Words after all.
