The Bible never specifies who was the greatest prophet. Since a prophet is speaking for God and not for themselves they don't care who is the greatest, nor do Christians bother with this since they all have something valuable to learn from, both in word and action. The four 'major prophets' of the Old Testament, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel and Daniel are all 'up there' mainly because of the great amount of their life and work we have record of as well as the greatness and volume of their prophetic message. Together with this their work went on for an extended period.
Totally unlike all of these is Jesus Christ who is much more than a prophet, but also Himself the fulfillment of much of their earlier prophecy and who will Himself fulfill some of His own prophecy regarding His future return.
In the bible there are two main type of prophets. They are the major and minor prophets.
There are about 1,000 prophets in the Bible, including 450 prophets of Baal and 400 prophets of the sacred pole. (1 Kings 18:18, 19)
The Tanach (Jewish Bible) includes the Jewish prophets, it does not include the prophets of other religions.
There are many more than 12 prophets in the Bible. If, however, you are asking what the names are of the twelve minor prophets, they are:HoseaJoelAmosObadiahJonahMicahNahumHabakkukZephaniahHaggaiZechariahMalachi
The major prophets writing is lengthy than the minor prophets. Isaiah is referred to as the miniature bible.
