Joshua and Caleb
The Israelites finally enter the promised land after wandering in the desert for 40 years, led by Joshua, around 1400 BC.
It is estimated that approximately 2 million Israelites died in the wilderness during the 40 years of wandering before reaching the Promised Land.
According to the biblical account in the Book of Numbers, out of the original group of Israelites who left Egypt, only two—Joshua and Caleb—entered the Promised Land. The rest of that generation, due to their lack of faith and disobedience, perished during the 40 years of wandering in the desert. Therefore, while many Israelites left Egypt, only these two were permitted to enter the land promised to their ancestors.
The children of Israel could have reached the Promised Land almost 40 years earlier.
The Hebrews were bound for the Promised Land (Canaan) after they left Egypt. However, due to their negativity and fear of the inhabitants of Canaan, they ended up wandering in the desert for forty years.

The Israelites probably could have (and did) reached the Promised Land in 6-9 months. Because of their disobedience, they had to wander for 40 years.
40 years of wandering in the wilderness far from established habitats
Moses led the Israelites through the desert for more than 40 years, but it was actually Joshua who led them into the Promise Land because Moses had disobeyed God and was forbidden to enter.
Moses died in the desert around 1450BC....he lived 120 years....40 years with Pharoah....40 years in the desert and 40 years wandering with the children of Israel....So the Red Sea was parted 40 years before Moses death or 40 years before Joshua took the children of Israel into the promised land.....So around 1490BC
At the time when it was promised, Abraham and his family were living in that land. Except for a couple of hundred years that they spent in Egypt, and the 40 years returning to the land from Egypt, some of his descendants have lived there continuously ever since, and those who were forced out at various points in history have begun to return in modern times.
