Ishmael's mother was Hagar, Abraham's maid-servant.
Hagar mother of Ishmael
Hagar was Abrahams slave. And she was the mother of Ishmael.
Ishmael was named by his mother, Hagar, as instructed by an angel in the Old Testament of the Bible.
Her name was Hagar.
Ishmael's mother, Hagar, was an Egyptian woman who was a handmaid to Sarah, Abraham's wife. She was given to Abraham as a second wife when Sarah was unable to conceive a child.
Abraham was exceedingly happy when Ishmael was born and wished that Ishmael would be the child of promise, showing little faith in God's abilities. But God corrected Abraham and told him that his son Isaac will fill that role. He had other plans for Ishmael:
Sarah (Isaac's Mother) and Hajar (Ishmael's Mother)
Hagar is the mother of Ishmael. Abraham took Hagar as a second wife when his wife Sara could not conceive a child. Sara eventually did conceive and gave birth to Isaac. In the end, Hagar and Ishmael were banished so Isaac could be Abraham's heir.
In the Abrahamic faiths, Ishmael is considered by Muslims to be a direct ancestor of the Arab nation through his descendants. This lineage is believed to have come from Abraham and Hagar, Ishmael's mother. Ishmael is also seen as the forefather of the Arab people in many cultural and religious narratives.
It was Ishmael who was sent out into the desert with his mother Hagar, but they were not being sent out to die. They were being exiled at the time. Ishmael would have been in his late teens. They did fall on hard times on their journey when God provided them with water. Hagar and her son lived a nomadic life. Ishmael later had 12 sons and one of his daughters married Esau. Later in life, Ishmael assisted his brother Isaac when they buried their father together. Ishmael lived to be 137 years old. This account is chronicled in the Bible Book of Genesis.
Hagar and Ishmael were sent away because of tensions between Hagar, the mother of Ishmael, and Sarah, Abraham's wife, after the birth of Isaac. Sarah felt threatened by Ishmael's presence and demanded that Abraham send them away to ensure that Isaac would inherit his lineage without competition. God reassured Abraham about the situation, instructing him to listen to Sarah, promising that Ishmael would also become a great nation.
Sarah and Hajar- peace be upon them
