Peter
Peter, one of the twelve apostles of Jesus, was originally named Simon. Jesus gave him the name Peter, which means "rock" in Greek (Petros), signifying his role as a foundational leader in the early Christian Church. Peter is often regarded as a key figure in Christianity, known for his strong faith and leadership among the apostles.
They were responsible for spreading the word he gave them. While here on Earth Jesus told the apostles "What I tell you in secret shout from the rooftops." After Jesus left he sent the Holy Spirit who gave the apostles the gift of tongues so that when they relayed God's word to people the people would understand no matter what language they spoke.
They already came with names, Jesus didn't change them.
The twelve apostles were chosen by Jesus to preach the Gospel. St. Paul was chosen to be the "rock" of the church. Jesus gave him the responsibility to build his church and to essentially recruit people to join.
Yes it can be viewed that Jesus was a voluntarily leader. He gave up himself for the salvation of mankind, and He did not need anything in return.
The Lord Jesus gave spiritual gifts to his disciples to enable them be effective withnesses. Acts 1,8
Jesus gave His apostles the authority, to preach all around the world. Jesus did this by sending them the Holy Spirit. After Jesus' death, the apostles were afraid to be killed, so they stayed in a small home. One day the Holy Spirit appeared in the form of tongues on fire. After this, all twelve apostles, could speak in different languages. This was so that they could preach the word of God to all Nations of the World.
Jesus gave the Apostle the power to heal and not the power to forgive sins. Because if the Apostles can forgive sins, what would be the significance of Jesus dying on the cross?
Our Lord Jesus Commissioned His Apostles to preach the Gospel. He Told them to go out & preach to all the Nations & Baptize then in the Name Of the Father, and Of the Son, and Of the Holy Spirit.
In the Gospel of John, Jesus breathed on his apostles to give them the Holy Spirit and empower them for their mission to spread the good news of salvation. This act symbolized the giving of the Holy Spirit and the commissioning of the apostles to carry out their ministry.
