The Holy Spirit came and filled 120 people at the upper room in Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost, as described in the Book of Acts in the Bible. This event marked the beginning of the Christian Church and the empowerment of the disciples to spread the teachings of Jesus.
Scripture is not clear as to whether only the twelve apostles were in the upper room or whether the 120 disciples mentioned in the first chapter of Acts were all there. Some people argue one way and some people the other; however, it is not really exactly clear, in my opinion.
Peter explained that they were not drunk, but filled with the Holy Spirit as predicted by the prophet Joel.
