Its not that they don't go, is that Mosque are designed so that men and women never see each other. Men go in first, through the front door, when all the men have gone inside, the women go in second through the back, and both genders take the rules very seriously; if you barge into the women's part of the mosque they'll beat you up, they'll start hitting you and yelling at you telling you to get the hell out. It did not happen to me, but I was warned that if I tried it, it would. They weren't joking either; the Arab who warned me was serious, that the women take the rules seriously too. Generally, because in Islam women are given little control over their lives, what little power they do have, they tightly hold on to. Because the women's section of the mosque is THEIR territory, they will resort to violence to "protect" it from men. In other words (lol), stay out of the women's "country." Again Mosques are always engineered in a way, and specific etiquette entrance rules are designed in a way so that the two genders never see one another. Oh there are women there; if you're a male over 13 though, you won't see any of them.
