Why are Catholics sometimes not considered Christian?

Catholicism is a type of Christianity, just like jeans being a type of pants. All Catholics are a type of Christian, but only some Christians happen to be Catholic. Both types believe in Jesus, God, etc.

Another viewCatholics are Catholics and Christians are Christians..the very first Christians did not require a church building for over 300 years A.D..hence I suspect Catholicism didn't exist before true Christianity did amd you do not need a physical building to be born again into Gods family....you see the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross is the payment for all sin and to actually accept Jesus Christ as Lord and SAVIOR is the only way to get to God and be cleaned of our previous sins..

Catholic Church is in no way leading people to become born again in spirit and instead place all their hope in some type of purgatory after we die...

and the reason Christians cannot be catholics is that they are truly Born Again Christians and do not desire to follow certain false religious teachings in catholicism..such as purgatory which leads people away from Christ not closer to Him.

Our Blessed Lord only founded ONE Church which He founded on the apostle, St. Peter as its first vicar (see St. Matthew, 16:17-19). He guaranteed that this Church, which is His Mystical Body, would be on earth until the end of the world and He sent the Holy Spirit to guide it. It has withstood all the heresies, sinners, and everything else that the Satan and the world have thrown at it for 2,000 years. There are Christians who are not visible members of this Church If they have been validly baptized and believe in the Nicene Creed in its traditional interpretation. However, though members through their baptism, they are living a crippled Christianity as they are not in union with the visible Church which Our Blessed Lord established to give them sanctifying grace through His Sacraments. Others who use the word "Christian" of themselves are just misusing the word through the habit of the past several centuries, wanting to believe that they are following Our Blessed Lord and not a man-made institution that was founded in the sixteenth century - or later. Anyone who believes that they are a Christian, but is not a Catholic, should have a hard look at what Our Blessed Lord taught about His Church and ask why they are not members of it.

Perhaps because they don't always follow our Divine Lord and Savior's saving precepts and examples.

Also, some protestants who believe in the sola scriptura silliness (the ludicrous doctrine that The Bible is the only divinely inspired source of god's truth) interpret it in such a way that you are not Christian if you do not "accept Jesus Christ as your personal lord and savior." or the like. Catholics (Roman and Anglo) believe that you are a Christian if you are baptized and believe.
