to our ancestors, as it not only informed them of when a hostile neighbor or a

sabre-tooth tiger was attacking, but also from whch direction, thus providing

a strong suggestion regarding which way to run. The ancestors who had this

information lived longer and had more children than the mono-eared ones, who

sought escape in random directions, and the matched set of ears slowly but

certainly emerged as the prevailing style.

In the book of James in verses 1:19-20 he tells us that we are to be quick to listen with our two ears and slow to speak with our one mouth. We are also told that we should be slow to anger.

Because hearing in stereo gives a survival advantage. Having to listen to people TALK in stereo would be maddening. Mono is, all to often, more than enough.
