because god always keeps his promises
Answer:
God wouldn't be God if He didn't keep His promises.
However... God's "dual" promise to Abraham have not been fulfilled, yet. He promised Abraham the earth and salvation. As Jesus [the Creator God of the Old Testament - John 1:3] told Isaac after his father, Abraham's, death:
"I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and will give them all these lands..." (Gen.26:4 NIV).
'All these lands,' which translates, according to Paul as "the whole world":
"It was not through the law that Abraham and his offspring received the promise that he would be heir of the whole world..." (Rom.4:13 NIV).
Jesus then finished confirming Abraham's promise upon Isaac with:
"...and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because Abraham obeyed Me and kept My requirements, My Commandments, My decrees and My laws." (Gen.26:4-5 NIV)
The blessing portion of God's promise to Abraham seems to be the only part that the world recognizes as the "promise of the Messiah"...
...but in both of these promises -- NEITHER ONE IS FULFILLED YET!
1) Abraham's children have been scattered to the "four winds" [as The Bible puts it], in every compass point on the planet, and have been swallowed up and absorbed by just about every nation on earth. Yet, they are hated and rejected by the nations of the world, and have not inherited... nor do they rule... the world.
2) Neither have "all the nations on earth" received the salvation [blessing] of Christ, the most important of Abraham's "offspring":
"The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his Seed. The scripture does not say,'and to seeds,' meaning many people, but 'and to your Seed,' meaning one person, who is Christ." (Gal.3:16 NIV)
Jesus Christ has not "saved all the families of the earth, yet." Right now, His Father is calling "some" out of the world... and giving them to Jesus for Him to train and discipline in obedience and the ways of God [as father Abraham was obedient], so that they all might jointly rule the Kingdom of God with Christ when He establishes it on earth.
While God's plan for these things is in the process of being fulfilled -- according to the Bible, the promises have NOT YET BEEN KEPT IN THEIR ENTIRETY.
Right now... there is the "faith" and "hope" of those whom God is calling... in God's promises to Abraham, the father of the faithful" [Gal.3:7]; and in the "shed blood of Jesus Christ" who spoke the promises to Abraham in the first place.
And it's these "elect" of God, together with Christ [when He finally gathers them unto Himself], who shall jointly perform and fulfill the promises to Abraham.
"These were all commended for their faith, yet NONE OF THEM RECEIVED WHAT HAD BEEN PROMISED. God had planned SOMETHING BETTER FOR US so that TOGETHER WITH US would they be made perfect." (Heb.11:39-40 NIV)
The vast majority of the earth today is populated by the Chinese and East Indians. They haven't yet been "blessed" through Christ and received His salvation. Yet, they certainly have to be included in the "all the families of the earth" portion of Abraham's promise. Nor have the vast majority of all the other nations of the world yet received salvation.
The promises to Abraham are in the works... but not yet fulfilled.
The agreement made by God to Abraham's children is often referred to as the covenant. In this covenant, God promised Abraham that he would be the father of a great nation, which would be blessed and would inherit the land of Canaan. This promise extended to Abraham's descendants, ensuring that they would be numerous and receive God's favor. The covenant established a special relationship between God and Abraham's lineage, emphasizing faithfulness and obedience to God's will.
The three covenants between God and Abraham include the Land Covenant, the Nation Covenant, and the Blessing Covenant. The Land Covenant promises Abraham and his descendants the land of Canaan as their eternal possession. The Nation Covenant assures that Abraham will be the father of a great nation, specifically the Israelites, who will become numerous. Finally, the Blessing Covenant states that through Abraham's lineage, all nations of the earth will be blessed, ultimately fulfilled in the coming of Jesus Christ.
As a sign of the covenant, Sarai's name will be changed to Sarah, meaning "princess," reflecting her role in God's promise to Abraham. God will bless her and grant her the ability to bear a son, Isaac, despite her advanced age. This miraculous birth will signify the establishment of a great nation through her lineage, fulfilling God's covenant with Abraham.

Abraham made a covenant with God; and God swore also to Isaac and Jacob that He would uphold the covenant of Abraham with them too. For Joseph, no such statement or covenant was made. The earlier covenant applied to Joseph and all of his brothers equally and was not reiterated until the time of Moses.See also the Related Links.Link: The covenantLink: Abraham, Isaac and Jacob
The symbol of God's covenant with Abraham is circumcision, which was the physical sign of the covenant between God and Abraham's descendants. This practice was to be continued throughout generations as a reminder of God's promises to Abraham and his descendants.
God chose Isaac, Abraham's son with Sarah, as the heir to His covenant because He intended to establish a special lineage through Sarah, fulfilling His promise of a nation that would come from Abraham and Sarah. While Ishmael was also blessed and became a great nation, the covenant and the promise of land and descendants were specifically tied to Isaac. This choice emphasizes God's sovereignty in selecting the lineage through which His divine plan would unfold.
In the covenant with Abraham, God made seven key promises: He promised to make Abraham the father of a great nation, to bless him and make his name great, to make his descendants numerous like the stars, to give the land of Canaan to his offspring, to be their God, to bless those who bless Abraham and curse those who curse him, and that through Abraham, all the nations of the earth would be blessed. These promises underscore God's commitment to Abraham and his lineage, establishing a foundational relationship for the Israelites.
The lineage of Esau is irrelevant to God's promise to Abraham, the promise will be fulfilled by Jesus Christ, who is of the lineage of Jacob, Esau's twin brother.

The symbol most commonly associated with Abraham is the Star of David, which represents the Jewish faith and is linked to his lineage as the patriarch of the Jewish people. Additionally, Abraham is often symbolized by the covenant of circumcision, a physical sign of the covenant between God and Abraham. In a broader sense, he is also recognized as a symbol of faith and obedience in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.
