Mark's gospel gives the fullest account of John the Baptist and Herod. In Mark 6 we can read that Herod feared John and knew that John was a just and holy man. Herod gladly listened to what John had to say heard but he would not give up his unlawful marriage to his brother's wife Herodias. At Herod's birthday party, with local celebrities attending, Herodias arranged for her daughter to dance. Herod was so pleased with the dancing that he promised to give the girl anything up to half his kingdom. Prompted by her mother, she asked for the head of John the Baptist on a platter.

King Herod was trapped. Against his own desires and better judgment, he granted the request.

When Herod heard of the miracles that Jesus did he was troubled by his conscience. He thought Jesus was John the Baptist risen from the dead.

Mark 6:16 When Herod heard it, he said, "He is John the Baptist! I had his head cut off, but he has come back to life!"

Who batizied Jesus?

The Person who baptized Jesus was John the Baptist( Jesus' cousin) and when John baptized Jesus, God, His father came from heaven and told the people who Jesus was ans what he would do. God is the only real God who is Jesus' father and who is also Jesus Christ. its a bit confusing :) but Jesus Christ is the only true God and if you don't believe in him and ask him into your life then you may not live in eternity. (heaven)

Probably because he was killed for his ideals. He did baptize Jesus, and was commended by him, but I think it was his martyrdom that got his name canonized.

What island did they send John the Baptist to?

John the Baptist wasn't sent to an island; he was imprisoned (and later beheaded) by Herod Antipas, the son of Herod the Great. See Mark chapter 6 or parallel accounts. The Apostle John was exiled to the Mediterranean island of Patmos, where he wrote the Book of Revelation (Revelation 1:9). [Some contemporary accounts maintain that the author could be some other John, but there is no compelling reason to think that the writer might be other than the apostle.] ---- I do not believe he was sent to an island, and he was beheaded. You may be referring to John one of Jesus' disciples who was sent to the island of Patmoswhere he wrote Revelations the last book of the Bible.

Why did Jesus choose Philip Apostles?

because may be 1) reveals by the Father that Jesus is the Messiah, 2) intuitively know that Jesus is the long waited Messiah, 3) Jesus told him he is the Messiah or show him some miracles to him and he instantly believe Jesus is the Messiah 4) he had a dream last night that today he will meet the Messiah 5) Philip believed the testament of John the baptist who said that Jesus is the Messiah, I think he is one of the most faithful disciple of John the baptist. Jesus saw his total faith that Philip believed that he is the Messiah, therefore Jesus choose him.

Why did Jesus wear the crown of thorns?

Jesus was and is the King of the Jews, as proclaimed by the wise men, (Matthew 2.2), and by Pilate, on Jesus' cross in three languages. (John 19.19,20). But the people who rule this world, (Herod and the soldiers then), think this of Jesus, the everlasting Father and Prince of Peace. "If he is a king, then let us crown him - with thorns!" And Jesus never argued; He is meek and lowly in heart.
