Jehovah's Witnesses disfellowship ONLY when someone has committed a gross sin and are UNREPENTANT toward such actions. No one is desired to leave the safety of the congregation. Only when someone flat doesn't care what they have done are they disfellowshipped.

This is for the health of the member...hopefully, the loss of the family and fellowship that they once enjoyed will be missed and also for the health of the congregation....so that the "bad" influences aren't condoned within the congregation.

And make no mistake....they will be welcomed back with open arms.
