Why do Muslims were white sheets on hajj?

Muslim men are supposd to wear two plain pieces of uncolored fabric. Usually these are white, but they might be other colors, depending on what they're made of.

Women can (and do) wear any color. They cover all of their bodies except the face and the hands.

Men are supposed to wear two plain pieces of cloth. Usually they wear white cotton.

The reason for this simple style of dress is that it removes signs of wealth and privilege.

Muslim women can wear clothing of any color, as long as it is loose, opaque, and covers everything except the face and the hands.

is cos white reflects the sun and when Muslims die they get wrapped in white cloths so this reminds them they could die at anytime and that this is the closest to Allah they've ever been.

The white sheet is called an "ihraam"

it has two basic purposes:

1.equality: the hajj(pilgrimage) is not only a sacred practise, but its also Allah's(God's) way of uniting Muslims. Its the World's biggest congregation.

one of the basic principles of Islam is equality in all people and all Muslims. By wearing the ihraam, it is a way to avoid discrimination between people, and to show solidarity and unity.

2.reminder of death: In Islam, the dead are buried in a plain white sheet. The white sheet is symbolic...so that all Muslims repent and ask for Divine forgiveness and mercy, and remind themselves that materialistic things shall remain in this world, and that spiritual goodness and helping others should be their priority

Hajj is not a festival. It is the 5th pillar of Islam. It is obligatory on each Muslim once in life. The pilgrims wear two white sheets of untailored cloth during the days of Hajj. This dress symbolizes uquality, simplicity and unity.

purity and to show equality for example if a poor man was wearing ordinary clothes and a rich man was wearing fancy and expensive clothing all muslims wearing white symbolises equality regardless of race, wealth etc
