Actually I see what you mean. But let's put it this way to better reflect 'accuracy':
"Modern PSEUDO-Christianity could be viewed as a perversion and an abomination." Anyone can 'call' themselves 'Christian', that does not necessarily make them such. We might call them 'self-proclaimed' Christians.
Even Jesus said of them: "I do not know them. Get away from me . . . ." (Matt 7:21-23) Apparently even though they did things 'in Christ's name', including some powerful works in Christ's name; Jesus did not recognize them as his true followers. Perhaps he also felt they were a perversion and an abomination of what he truly represents.
But 'TRUE' Christianity would be different. True Christianity reflects accurately their leader Christ Jesus.
It's every persons responsibility to search for 'true' Christians. They CAN be found. Christ would not leave the world without any. Otherwise he would be a very weak Christ, if he had no true followers to represent him.
Christ himself gave a criterion of what to look for in John 13:35. Jesus said they would be easily recognized by that criterion. Jesus said that "all * would * know". The reality is that ALL people DO KNOW who they are. They may not like the answer - - but they KNOW. Jesus said so.
(I include no comments about the specific group you singled out. I know some very nice members of that group.)
Mormonism and Christianity do not draw on Hinduism. There are very few similarities between them and Hindusim.

abomination = nevalah (נבלה)Note: the word "abomination" used in English translations of Leviticus is a mistranslation of the word To'evah (תואבה), which actually means "unkosher". Unkosher means "not appropriate according to Jewish law".Since this word didn't exist in King James' time, they used the word abomination, which is much harsher than what the Hebrew actually implies. Modern Christian translations never updated this language.)
Christianity originated in Judea, which is in modern day Israel.

Neither Christianity nor Isalm orignated in Europe. Christianity Originated in Judea (modern day Israel) and Islam originated in Mecca (modern day Saudi Arabia)
The purpose modern art of christianity is to draw people to God
The branches of Christianity recognized as most prominent in modern society are Catholicism, Protestantism, and Eastern Orthodoxy.
In the modern day? Orthodox Christianity.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the correct name for what is nicknamed the Mormon Church) began as a restoration of original Christianity, through its first modern prophet, Joseph Smith, who was directed by God in vision and revelation.
