Roman Catholic AnswerWhere did you ever get such a strange notion? The Catholic Church does more philanthropy then any other organization in the world, and they have been doing it longer then any organization, religious group, or government. For centuries, there have been whole religious orders which have hundreds of consecrated members who do nothing but "good works" for others. This is the basis of the Christian religion, and thus the basis of Catholicism. To this day, the Vatican has numerous collections and charities which it supports and you can follow the chain of good causes right down to the soup kitchen or the Thrift shop at your local Catholic Church. Ask any beggar on the street where he goes when he really needs a meal!

Below are two examples, only two, of the numerous charitable organizations supported by the Church, and a link to the Holy Father's Encyclical on Charity.

Why do Roman Catholics have flute bands?

It's just Catholic, not Roman Catholic. Roman is an epithet first commonly used in England after the protestant revolt to describe the Catholic Church. It is never used by the official Catholic Church. That being said, the Catholic Church is worldwide and covers pretty much every culture for the last two thousand years. I am sure that there are individual Catholic parish that might have a flute band, but I can assure you that this is nowhere near universal and is certainly not part of the Catholic religion.

How much money does Caritas get from the Catholic Church?

Your question reveals an ignorance of what "the Catholic Church" is. Each individual bishop rules a diocese, and each diocese is an autonomous Catholic Church. Even the Pope is just the Bishop of Rome. Thus each individual diocese contributes whatever its Bishop decides to use to support the individual Caritas in his diocese or his country, you would have to check with each individual diocese or archdiocese, of which there are 2,845 "particular" Churches, which, together, are collectively called "The Catholic Church".
