Why is Abraham important in Judaism Christianity and Islam?

Abraham (Ibraheem in Arabic) is important to the Muslims because he is one of their important prophets in Islam. He was also a messenger of Islam to spread the word of Islam to the people of his nation. The story Abraham having to sacrifice Isaac is similar to the one in the Qur'an, but it was Ishmael (Ismaeel in Arabic) who was to be sacrificed instead.

According to the Genesis account -- Ishmael was not the son of Abraham's wife Sarah but the son of his other wife Hagar. It is a false accusation to say that Prophet Abraham got Ismael from Hagar without marriage. The prophet who forbids his followers from doing fornication sure will not bring a child through fornication and not through licit marriage. This is also specifically spelled out in the Bible in Genesis 16:3.
