Abraham (Ibraheem in Arabic) is important to the Muslims because he is one of their important prophets in Islam. He was also a messenger of Islam to spread the word of Islam to the people of his nation. The story Abraham having to sacrifice Isaac is similar to the one in the Qur'an, but it was Ishmael (Ismaeel in Arabic) who was to be sacrificed instead.
