* An abomination defines an action that is vicious or vile to god. In that homosexual sex is a sin in Christianity, it could be defined this way. However, God hates all sins equally so it is equally correct to say that gambling, lying, and saying god's name in vain are abominations if you use a religious definition. * If you use a non-religious definition, then this becomes a subjective question that different people will answer differently based on whether or not they believe homosexuality is vicious or vile. * Not in the way in which we use the word in modern usage. * The term abomination in modern usage is different than the way in which it was used 6000 years ago, or even 600 years ago for that matter! In the Hebrew Scriptures an abomination was something that defied a health code. A large portion of the Hebrew Scriptures were based on health codes. So certain codes of hygiene were developed and were seen as very important to follow to the exact degree. If broken, it was actually seen as a betrayal of your community, even immoral! Homosexuality, because of lack of knowledge and understanding was categorized as unclean and thus a break of one of the health codes, thus an abomination. However, eating shell fish, wearing fabric made of two different types of material, or eating meat and dairy in the same sitting were also considered "abominations". Most of these codes are not followed today because we recognize that they are simply health codes that existed for a specific community for a specific time. * ACTUALLY the above statement is not true about the Hebrews- although hygiene is very important to Jews, Homosexuality is forbidden in the bible not because it is 'unclean' but because it states so in passages, i.e., the 2 angels who came to Lot in Sodom were threatened by a mob (Gen 19:4-11) they called on Lot to bring out the men "that we may know them" know meaning have sexual relations....this was seen as sinful and the city was punished for it-
* There are many other references in the Old Testament, New Testament, and by various religions (Judaism, Christianity, Islam etc..) against homosexulaity, But at the end of the day many people use the bible to define their homophobia or prejudice against homosexual people while still transgressing many other commandments from their holy scriptures, which is hypocritical.
There is not a single person, but the city of Sodom and Gomorrah, which according to Christian interpretation, God destroyed because homosexuality is an "abomination" to God (Jewish interpretation is completely different).
It is clearly written in the book of Romans chapter1 verse 27. please, don't think that if you commit homosexual acts that you are an abomination. God see's the ACT of homosexuality as detestable and an abomination. god loves the person but hates the sin.

The Bible doesn't say that anywhere.
Because The Bible says homosexuality is wrong, and it is a sin. nobody says that we hate gays its just we dont agree with it. but if someone is being hateful that is not the way the bible says to handle the situation.According to the Bible you can't enter kingdom of God if you practice homosexuality. The question is a generalization that is false. There are people that are extremely uncomfortable with the concept. The Bible says that it is an abomination. The Bible also says that it is not our part to judge others, that right is reserved for God.
yes the bible say so
The Bible's position on homosexuality can be found at the following biblical references. Note: The first two references are in the Old Testament, while the third one is from the New Testament. The implication is that the Bible has had a stance on homosexuality for a long time. For immediate reference a link to a searchable on-line Bible is available, below Leviticus 18:22 Leviticus 20:13 Romans 1:26-28
The Bible prohibits sexual acts outside of marriage, adultery, incest, bestiality, and homosexuality.
haha, Well, first of all, I doubt that Jesus was referring to "homosexual sex" when making those comments, although a very entertaining interpretation of the texts I might add.As for homosexuality being 'against the bible' it is NOT! The problem is that many theologians throughout the ages have mistranslated scripture, using translations of translations and in the process not recognizing that certain words such as "homosexual" were never in the original greek or Hebrew texts, but in later European Protestant translations. As for the Hebrew scriptures "prohibition" of homosexual acts in Leviticus "a man shall not lie with a man as with womankind, that is an abomination" This statement was referring to a specific culture at a specific time. The book of Leviticus is primarily codes and regulations, which were created for a specific culture, at a specific time in history. In part these codes were created as a means for the Hebrews to define themselves from other cultures, but the primary reason for the creation of these codes was due to a lack of knowledge in regards to hygeine. In Leviticus it also states that eating shellfish is an abomination, yet most Christians and even many sects of Judaism have no issue with shrimp or lobster! Yet according to the Levitical codes, it is an 'abomination.' These codes were created primarily for health reasons, and are NOT to be taken as moral codes handed down by the divine to all of humankind for all of time. Thus, there is NO "SIN" in homosexuality, nor is there any TRULY VALID prohibition of homosexuality in the scriptures. Jesus himself NEVER ONCE mentions the issue of homosexuality. Jesus speaks in regards to what he deemed to be all major sins, however, he never once spoke on, or even implied anything on the issue of homosexuality. If homosexuality was a sin, Clearly he would have made some concise effort to clarify that to the people. For more information on the truth about homosexuality and the bible, Go tohttp://www.gaychurch.org/Gay_and_Christian_YES/calling_the_rainbow_nation_home/7_gac_the_clobber_passages.htm
It doesn't refer to homosexuality anywhere in the Bible. However, there are certain verses that can be interpreted as prohibitions against same-sex activity, particularly Leviticus 18:22. It's important to note, however, that different religions interpret these verses in different ways, and not all use them to ban homosexuality.
King James Bible (Cambridge Ed.)Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it isabomination.
The Bible does not say homosexuality can be cured. Also, the Bible was never meant to be a guide to the human brain. No study ever done has supported the idea that sexual orientation can be changed. There is not one single shred of evidence.
