Since the earliest days of the temple the animal to sacrifice was given a drink as it arrived on the north side of the altar where it was killed. Right after it drank, it was killed.
They made the animal drink from a gold cup. Babl. Talmud Tamid 29a
This was foretelling Jesus being offered wine mixed with myrrh.
On the eve of the Passover, when the Passover was on a Friday, the evening daily sacrifice would happen earlier than normal, about noon time. Jesus arrives at Golgotha about noon time. (third hour Mk 15,25) On this very special Passover Jesus is given a drink at the same time the animal is given the drink. Whether the animal drank the wine or not depends on the animal itself, but Jesus didn't.
This also fulfilled the prophecy:
They gave me also for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink. Ps 69,21

At the Last Supper, Jesus said that the bread represents his body and the wine represents his blood, which would be given for the forgiveness of sins.
Luke 23:36 tells us that the soldiers offered Jesus some sour wine while He was on the cross, and Matthew 27:34 tells us that this wine was mixed with gall. This Gall is thought to have been Myrrh, which is a narcotic, and it is said that the Jews would offer this to person's being crucified in order to lessen their pain. Jesus refused this drink as He was to taste the full brunt of sin and death on the cross to satisfy God the Father in heaven because He was the One and only sacrifice for the sins of mankind.
