Jesus Christ is one of the most controversial people of all times. Some will dispute that Jesus ever existed.

Christians will quote many ancient prophecies and miracles to "prove" that he is the Messiah. Jews will point out that the Messiah was supposed to bring peace on earth. This still hasn't happened; therefore, Jesus is not the Messiah. The Muslims believe (I think) that Jesus was God's prophet but not God's main messenger. In Asia, Jesus is often considered a guru or wise teacher but is not necessarily God's only son.

According to the New Testament, Jesus was born from Mary, who was allegedly a virgin. God is considered his father. Joseph was Jesus' stepfather.

Jesus allegedly performed many miracles, and taught radical versions of Jewish law. The religious and political leaders thought he was a threat both to the Roman Empire and to the current religious establishment and had him executed by crucifixion.

Jesus' followers buried his body in a tomb, and the body disappeared after three days. Jesus' followers believe that he rose from the dead, and others believe that the body was stolen.

Jesus perhaps unintentionally started an entire religion which has dominated Western culture for hundreds of years.
