Lawrence was one of seven deacons closely associated with Pope Saint Sixtus II. His work was to distribute money to the poor. During the persecutions of the Roman Emperor Valerian, the Pope and the six other deacons were taken prisoner and beheaded, leaving Lawrence as the leader of the church. He was told by authorities to bring to them all the wealth of the church and to surrenderd himself for execution. He quickly distributed what little wealth the church had to the poor and gather together all the poor, crippled, blind and sick he could find and surrendered himself to the emperor, telling him that these people were the true wealth of the church. He was taken prisoner and executed by being thrown onto a hot grill above a slow fire. Before he died he is reported to have told his executioner to, "Turn me over. I'm done on this side."
St. Agnes is a "pre-congregational" saint. She was declared a saint before the Sacred Congregation for the Causes of Saints came into being that required Rome to examine all evidence before a person could be declared a saint. Except for unproven legends, there is no written record of any miracles that could be attributed to the intercession of St. Agnes. When Agnes was proclaimed a saint, there was no official requirement that miracles be proven.
Two, actually. If the Pope finds that you did in fact make those miracles, he will proclaim you a saint.
In 1984 that was changed to 2 miracles and the pope has the prerogative to drop that to one miracle in certain cases.
First of all, the saints do not perform miracles. The miracles are performed by God at the request of the saint. Each individual case is based on its own merits. Usually 2 miracles are required, one for beatification and one for canonization. If the person died as a martyr, one or more miracles may be dropped. Other things can also be taken into consideration such as bilocation. incorruptibility, stigmata, heavenly perfume, etc.
There is no patron saint of relationships. However, St. Valentine of Rome is a patron saint of couples. He might make a good starting point.
Saint Arnold, originally of Austria, is known as the patron saint of beer. He was a bishop and very prominent in the Church. When he died, the party of travellers carrying his coffin stopped to rest at a tavern and get a drink of beer. They were told, unfortunately that there was only one mug of beer and that they would have to all share it. The mug never emptied and this "miracle" became one of the qualified miracles to make Saint Arnold a cannonized saint. Sorry Answer is 9 letters long it is GAMBRINUS
I found this information on the Emmitsburg Area Historical Society webpage. Pope Paul VI canonized Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton September 14 during the Holy Year of 1975 and the International Year of the Woman. The Holy See accepted three miracles through her intercession. 1) These included the cures of Sister Gertrude Korzendorfer, D.C., (1872-1942), of Saint Louis, of cancer; 2) a young child, Ann Theresa O'Neill, (b.1948), of Baltimore, from acute, lymphatic leukemia; 3) and the miraculous recovery of Carl Kalin, (1902-1976), of New York, from a rare form of encephalitis.
Saint Mariana de Jesús was canonized primarily for her deep faith, piety, and commitment to a life of humility and service. She is recognized for her mystical experiences and her dedication to prayer and penance, which inspired many during her lifetime. Additionally, her role in promoting the Catholic faith and her impact on her community contributed to her sainthood. The church officially recognized her virtues and the miracles attributed to her intercession, solidifying her status as a saint.
Roman Catholic answer:St. Cecilia was a martyr, in other words she died for the faith. If one is martyred for the faith, one does not normally need a miracle or miracles proved to your intercession. Secondly, she died very early in the church. The modern process of canonization which calls for two miracles was not in effect back then. Saints were acclaimed.
