St. Veronica of Biblical times lived in the first century AD, and is known for the famous Veil with the face of Jesus.

St. Veronica Giuliani (1660-1727) was born Orsula or Ursula Giuliani on December 27, 1660 in Mercatello in the Duchy of Urbino (part of modern Italy). She served as a nun and abbess of the Capuchin order, and during one period exhibited stigmata similar to those of other Christians known to be rigorously faithful.

St. Veronica would have been declared a saint by popular acclamation in the Holy Land shortly after she died. There was no official process for canonization in place until much later in Church History. She was recognized for the compassion she showed to Our Lord during his passion and death.
