Conscience is an aptitude, faculty, intuition or judgment that assists in distinguishing right from wrong. Many people exist on a scale of conscience, especially people on the autistic scales, as well as sociopathic people. This is completely different than the concept of a soul. The soul is a religious and philosophical idea, so there is no way to definitely test its existence.

A person with no conscience may still have a soul, as the soul is often considered separate from a developed moral compass. However, lacking a conscience may impact their humanity in terms of empathy and moral behavior. The concept of being "human" is multi-faceted, encompassing physical, emotional, and moral dimensions.

If one is said to have an erroneous conscience, it may be with or without fault. For example, it is assumed (everyone) knows murder is against the Commandments, therefore would be wrong, regardless of what lack of, or mistaken, knowledge the person has.
