This is not really a "Yes" or "No" question. It would really depend on what level of conformity you are asking about. We all conform to a certain level about lots of things everyday. For example we all conform to the wearing of clothes, or obeying traffic laws etc. If you are asking does organized religion require or encourage that everyone involved in it dress, think, act, and look alike then the answer is no. If you are asking does it encourage people to behave within a certain set of rules, which would be the same for all involved, then yes. But the reason is not that religion would necessitate that everyone give up their autonomy but rather realize that there are specific actions and behaviors that are inherently good and bad and if you want to achieve a specific goal you must obey the rules to obtain it. Like if a person wanted to become a doctor. There is a process you have to complete guidelines you have to conform to. So basically, it goes back to what you believe to be true, what you want to accomplish and what you are willing to do to achieve those goals.
