A:Acts of the Apostles is traditionally believed to be a history of the early Church. In support of Acts as a book of history, Sir William Ramsay stated "Luke is a historian of the first rank; not merely are his statements of fact trustworthy...this author should be placed along with the very greatest of historians." This is now strongly disputed.

.

Uta Ranke-Heinemann (Putting Away Childish Things) says that anyone familiar with recent scholarship would laugh at Ramsay's claim, and says that the whole book is a work of Propaganda aimed at Gentile Christians and Gentiles who have not yet become Christians. Hans Joachim Schoeps writes that Actshas been believed much too readily, saying that Acts is only a retrospective view of Christian origins written by one party - the winners. The book of Acts is not really about the early church, so we can not be sure how much of the book is history and how much was created by the author for theological purposes.

Where are the acts of the disciples discussed in Bible?

The Acts of the Apostles describes what they did after Jesus ascended to heaven. They were then Apostles as witnesses to all that Jesus said and did, especially the resurrection. At this time disciples was also used as the name for all the Christian believers since they were all devoted followers of Jesus (no unbelieving nominalism then). Prior to Acts, the four Gospels, although centered on Jesus, record much of what the disciples (as they were then called) did and said.

Two events that form teh backdrop for the Acts of the Apostles are the ascension of Christ into heaven, and the Day of Pentecost, in which the apostles were given the Holy Ghost to aid in their work. Book that tells us about the first people to belong to the christian church?

Acts of the Apostles has long been regarded as a history of the early Church. The Acts Seminar was set up to review the book carefully and look for evidence of historicity in Acts. It determined that the book was written in the second century and does not accurately record events and personalities of the early church. Scholars participating in the Seminar concluded (See Acts and Christian Beginnings) that Acts is "a primary resource for understanding second-century Christianity", as the book writes of events and purported events in the time of Peter and Paul as if they took place at the time of writing.

Why is Acts of the Apostles an important book to the Christian Church?

Acts of the Apostles is widely thought to be a history of the early Christian Church. It was the first hagiology, literature dealing with the lives and legends of saints, and set the standard for several future books of the same genre. Acts of the Apostles demonstrated that it was possible to claim miraculous works for saints distant in time or place, and several of the Church Fathers who followed are said to have made similar claims about their contemporaries.
