In the Old Testament book of Joshua, chapter 6 verses 1-5 describe the Lord's instructions to the children of Israel to bring down the wall. Verses 6-20 describe the the battle and how the wall feel down flat on the seventh day. Jericho is apparently the oldest city in the world dating at least to 9250 BC. with the world's earliest wall by 8000 BC. From about 1400 to possibly 1300 BC. Jericho was a small settlement. The town at Joshua's time was small and may have used some of it's earlier walls for defenses. More critical scholars underline conflict between archaeological data and biblical quest narrative. More conservative scholars have tried to re-date the archaeological evidence or deny that tell es Sultan is biblical Jericho.
According to The Bible, the walls of Jericho fell after the Israelites marched around them for seven days, on the seventh day blowing their trumpets. So, the walls of Jericho stood for at least seven days before falling.
Estimates for the height of Jericho's walls vary greatly. Some historians count the mound of land that served as the walls base in their estimates. In these cases, historians state that the ways stood between 40 and 70 feet off the ground below. Other estimates only include the man made portion of the walls, and those estimates are anywhere from 17 to 25 feet tall.
That is not known, since walls of Jericho were built and rebuilt many times. See also:

Archaeology and the Hebrew Bible
Archaeologists say the walls of Jericho fell due to an earthquake that caused damage right across the region around 1550 BCE, and Jericho was abandoned.
A:At various times in its long history, Jericho had walls around it to protect the city from foreign invaders. The last wall before the Hebrew period collapsed during an earthquake in the sixteenth century BCE and the city was abandoned. By the late fifteenth century and the time traditionally attributed to the Israelite invasion, the city had long been abandoned and only a small, mud-brick village existed on the site of the former city. In spite of this, the Book of Joshua tells that the city of Jericho was surrounded by a high wall, and that Rahab lived in a house in the city. The story does not tell us about other buildings in the city.
A:At various times in its long history, Jericho had walls around it to protect the city from foreign invaders, and it might well have been possible to ride chariots around the top of the walls. However, the last wall before the Hebrew period collapsed during an earthquake in the sixteenth century BCE, after which the city was abandoned. As there was no wall at the time attributed to the biblical invasion, this would not have been possible.
