(1 Sam 17:40) And he [David] took his staff [rod, (hand) staff] in his hand, and chose him [selected (indicating discernment)] five smooth stones out of the brook ...
The person who died when hit on the forehead by a stone from a sling was Goliath, as recounted in the biblical story of David and Goliath. Goliath was a Philistine giant who was defeated by the young shepherd David using a sling and a stone.
See 2 Samuel 21:19-20. Some traditional commentaries say that the two verses are both talking about Goliath the Philistine, while others say that verse 20 is talking about one of Goliath's brothers. It is verse 20 which mentions the Philistine who had twenty-four fingers and toes, but does not name him explicitly.
In the biblical story of David and Goliath, there is no explicit mention of Goliath killing anyone. Goliath was a champion of the Philistines who challenged the Israelites to single combat, but he was ultimately defeated by David with a slingshot and a stone. Goliath's defeat led to the rout of the Philistine army, but there is no record of him killing anyone before his own demise.

1 Chronicles 20:5 lists Lahmi the brother of Goliath. 2 Samuel 21:19 records the death of "the brother of Goliath," but does not give a name. There are no other mentions of brothers of Goliath in the KJV bible. Although, the bible does speak about Goliath having four sons. (2 Samuel 21:22) "These four were born to the giant in Gath..."

Well for one thing he was not afraid of Goliath. David had already killed a bear and a lion. He must have been a pretty good shot with that sling shot. Another thing, no one else wanted to do it.
In the story of David and Goliath David was a young shepperd boy. He had brothers fighting in Saul's army at the time and was sent by his father to bring his brothers food. When he arrived he saw that Goliath was blaspheming God. He became upset and went into the king's tent and told the King he would fight Goliath. The king told him no at first but he was determined to fight for his God and eventually persuaded the king to allow him to fight Goliath. He walked to a stream picked 5 stones and using a sling shot hit Goliath in the middle of his with a rock killing the giant and sending the Philistines running with king Saul in shock.

Bane. Bane had a venom but Goliath fought David as a giant. Goliath is weaker. Bane is smarter. Plus, Bane could wreck Goliath's armor. Goliath is even worse. If Goliath's armor is wrecked, then Bane could tear up his hair and knock Goliath out for 3 days. Bane is better. Goliath can try to cut his head off. But Bane could wreck Goliath's sword. Goliath is the coward.
