Is Mark's Gospel an autobiography or a biography?

The gospel of Mark is a biography of Jesus written by John Mark

What is the greatest commandment and how do people react to it?

According to Mark 12:29-30 the most important commandment is to love God with all of your heart, with all of your soul, with all of your mind, and with all of your strength. As far as how people react to it...it appears that most people in the world ignore it. For me the greatest commandment is Jesus' "Love thy neighbour as thyself" which I believe is also a part of Scriptures of all faith.; Matthew 19 : 17-19 KJV : . . . if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.Sadly, when confronted by other faiths, most Christians mistranslates it as "Thou shalt love thy fellow Christians ...."When not confronted with other faiths, but confronted with other denominations of Christianity, most Christians translate it as "Thou shalt love the members of thy denominations....."I disagree that 'most' Christians do not follow these commandments. There are a minority of Christians who do not understand these and therefore give the remainder of Christians a bad name.

Which gospel has been called the Memoirs of Peter?

A:This would be Mark's Gospel because of the widespread belief that Mark was related to Peter, who supposedly taught Mark about Jesus, and the attribution of this Gospel to Mark.

Did Mark know Jesus personally?

Since scholars say that the Mark mentioned in the epistles was not really the author of the Gospel later attributed to him, there are two 'Marks' and therefore two answers to this question.1 Peter 5:13 says that Mark, presumably the same Mark as mentioned by Paul, was the author's son. If the author of this epistle was really the disciple Peter, we could say that there was a good chance of Mark having met Jesus, perhaps as a young child. However, scholars say that the epistle now known as 1 Peter was written pseudonymously and not really by Peter. There is no reason to believe that Mark, Paul's "fellow-labourer", had really met Jesus personally. The Gospel According to Mark was originally written anonymously and only attributed to Mark by Papias, bishop of Hieropolis in Asia Minor, around 130 CE. For convenience, scholars continue to call this anonymous author 'Mark', but the evidence of the Gospel itself is that 'Mark' never met Jesus.

Which gospel writer did not include accounts of Jesus birth?

AnswerThe earliest of the New Testament gospels, now known as Mark's Gospel, did not include an account of the birth of Jesus. THese accounts were added by the authors of Matthew and Luke. The author of John knew Luke's account of the birth of Jesus, but did not include it in his gospel. In fact, he suggests that he did not even believe that Jesus was born in Bethlehem.

Well, honey, Jesus wasn't playing 20 questions in the Bible, but if you want some direct answers, here you go: He answered questions about paying taxes (Matthew 22:17-22), the greatest commandment (Matthew 22:36-40), and his identity as the Son of God (Mark 14:61-62). Does the book of Mark speak about love?

Yes. The book of Mark is an account of the life and teaching of Jesus and Jesus often spoke about love. For example: Mark 12:30 AND YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, WITH ALL YOUR MIND, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH.' This is the first commandment. Mark12:31 And the second, like it, is this: 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.' There is no other commandment greater than these."

What verse in the Bible says love your neighbor?

The following verses remind people that to "love your neighbour" is a commandment in the Old Testament: Leviticus 19:18; Romans 13:8-9; Galatians 5:14; James 2:8. Mark 12:31 says that Jesus told the disciples that "love your neighbour" is the greatest commandment of all. Matthew 5:43-44 says that Jesus told the disciples not just to love your neighbour, but also your enemy.

The gospels say that he was a scribe ("lawyer") and a Pharisee, but the man is not identified by name.Matthew 22:34-36 - But when the Pharisees heard that He had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together. "And one of the scribes came up and . . . asked [Jesus], "Which commandment is the most important of all?"29Jesus answered, "The most important is, 'Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.30And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' 31 The second is this: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these." - Mark 12:28-31

How Jesus ideas are still important today?

Check out Matthew 4:10 and Mark 12:29 to see why Jesus idea that "there is only one God worthy of worship" is still important today and will remain so until Judgement Day. Jesus said that was the first and most important of the commandment and that the law and the prophets all agree on this.

What specific teaching in James is similar to a teaching of Jesus found in the Gospels?

A:The teaching of the letter is not about the Christian faith, but about the importance of living a moral life. The arguments for doing so are set forth as common wisdom. The source and authority for this wisdom are taken for granted by the author. There is no suggestion in the Epistle of James that its teachings are based on anything Jesus taught. Sayings reminiscent of the teachings of Jesus are not given special privilege and are not even attributed to him as their author or authority. James 2:8 refers to the Old Testament commandment to love your neighbour as yourself, without any suggestion that the author knew Jesus to have taught the same. This is similar to Mark 12:31, where Jesus says there is none other (Old Testament) commandment greater than the commandment to love your neighbour as yourself.
