You receive salvation by grace through faith
For God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life - John 3:16
Pray this prayer if you sincerely believe in your heart that Jesus is the Son of God and that He paid for your sins and rose again and is now seated at the right hand of God:
Father, I thank you for the sacrifice and blood of Jesus. Forgive me of my sins God on the account of Jesus' death. I declare now, Jesus, you are Lord and I declare you Lord of my life. Thank you for your salvation and everlasting life. In Jesus name, amen.
If you prayed this prayer for the first time God bless you, you are now a child of God and are now part of the family!
A New Testament perspective:There are five steps to salvation:Hear the word of the gospel: Matthew 13:23 -"But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty."
Believe that Jesus is the Son of God: John 1:12 - But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:
Repent of your sins: Luke 24:47 - and that repentance and remission of sinsshould be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
Confess your faith in Christ before men: Matthew 10:32, 33 - Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven. (Remaining "uncommitted" is tantamount to denial: Matthew 12:30 - He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.)
Acts 8:36, 37 -Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, "See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized?" Then Philip said, "If you believe with all your heart, you may." And he answered and said, "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God."
Be baptized for the forgiveness of sins: Acts 8:38 - So he commanded the chariot to stand still. And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him.
Mark 16:16 -He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.
Acts 2:37, 38 -Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Men and brethren, what shall we do?" Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."
Notice in John 1:12above that receiving Christ gives one the RIGHT to become a child of God; it does not MAKE one a child of God. "Belief" is more than a mental exercise; it requires acceptance of God's terms and OBEDIENCE to them (Matthew 28:20). According to the New Testament, ones sins are not washed away (Acts 22:16) NOR does one receive the gift of the Holy Spirit unless and until they are baptized (Acts 2:38).
Matthew 7:21 - Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
The steps to salvation can vary among different belief systems, but a common Christian perspective includes recognizing the need for salvation, repenting for sins, accepting Jesus Christ as Savior, confessing faith publicly, being baptized, receiving the Holy Spirit, living a life of faith and obedience, growing in relationship with God, sharing the gospel with others, and persevering in faith until the end.
The abbreviation for salvation is "SAL."
The infinitive form of the verb "salvation" is "to save."
The Puritans referred to those predestined for salvation as the "elect" or the "chosen few" who were believed to be predetermined by God to receive eternal salvation.
The word "savior" is used five times in the book of Acts. The word "saved" appears multiple times, but it is difficult to determine an exact count without specifying which translation of the Bible is being referenced. Meanwhile, "salvation" is mentioned around 10 times in the book of Acts.
Romans 10:9 states, "If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." This verse emphasizes the importance of both confessing Jesus as Lord and truly internalizing and believing in His resurrection for salvation. It highlights the significance of faith and proclamation in the Christian belief system.
