When you do something good or awesome for somebody (good works) and take no credit for it because you are doing it for God and His glory, you receive your 'reward' in the afterlife. Jesus endured the cross for the 'joy set before Him'. Same thing, kinda..
Enoch and Elijah are the two individuals in the Bible who did not experience death before going to heaven. Enoch was taken up to heaven by God, and Elijah was taken up in a whirlwind.
It is called the Ascension of Jesus. After his resurrection, Jesus was taken up to heaven in the presence of his disciples.
Some of Christ's teachings from the Sermon on the Mount applied to money and wealth."Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."..."No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and material wealth (mammon)."
The prophet was Elijah, who did not die , but was taken up into heaven.
2 Kings 2:11 - Then it happened, as they continued on and talked, that suddenly a chariot of fire appeared with horses of fire, and separated the two of them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.
Twice, and here are the references: Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: (Matthew 6.19,20)
We should store up treasures in heaven because where your treasure is there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:20
It was the belief of the Egyptian Pharaohs that if they were buried with the proper religious ceremony in pyramids with their treasures, not only would they go to heaven (or the Egyptian equivalent of heaven) but their treasures would go to heaven with them, and they would therefore be wealthy in the afterlife, as they were in life.
Our treasures in heaven are crowns with pretty jewels on them and a mansion of our own.
The Word 'Tresure' is mention several times throughtout the Bible mainly in the books of the Apostles (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John), and Acts. Some examples:Matthew 6:19-22"Don't lay up treasures for yourselves on the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consume, and where thieves don't break through and steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also"
Look up Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, and Romans 10:13. They show you how you can go to heaven. But in heaven, your rewards will be based on what you have done for Christ here on earth. You may have heard: "lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven". This means that good deeds that you do here on earth, will produce rewards in heaven. Everyone will receive a mansion and a crown, but you will receive more, the more you do for Christ here. All heaven will be paved with streets of gold, and walls of pure jasper, there will be no crying. It will be an awesome place for everyone.
That is a skeptical view. I believe there was a lot more to Jesus than just that, but you are free to believe what you want.

Ecclesiastes 5:13-15There is a severe evil which I have seen under the sun: Riches kept for their owner to his hurt. But those riches perish through misfortune; When he begets a son, there is nothing in his hand.As he came from his mother's womb, naked shall he return, To go as he came; And he shall take nothing from his labor Which he may carry away in his hand.
