it"s in The Bible, and there are some vagaries. We are not informed exactly who was being married, Cana ( which the Catholic church has used to claim Marriage is of Divine Origin and a Sacrament) has not even been properly located on a map- Canaan is the generalized term of the Promised Land, that is- Israel. The location marked Christ"s first public miracle- turning water into wine. Considering the horrendous impact of Alcoholism in this world, there is another question mark. some theologians see the blood offering of Calvary in the wine but the sermon texts make no mention of this. We do not know the names of the couple to be married, which is surely odd. One is reminded of many old time movies which seem to open with a funeral scene but give no hint as to who is in the box. ( for example Pete Kelly"s Bues. The funeral opens the story, but really has nothing to do with the plot. still one wonders. Here we have a similar ( closed case) on the generative side of life! It is odd indeed.
