Deitist ( more commonly deist) comes from diety, a deity being a god, and usually means one that believes in a god. This god is not specified/ specific in faiths albeit it may have roots from the candidates given denomination. The ones I know are usually toward the irreligous end of the belief scale. I believe a Deitist is someone that believes that there is a God, but that God put things in motion in/on this planet and went to attend other matters in the universe. He gave "natural" laws and the things to keep the planet going but does not have his hand involved in its outcome. Scripture tells us that he does care for us, he sent his Son to show us a loving father, and that he is involved in us here and will come back soon to take us to another place to live for 1000 years then change the world as we know it to a much better place.
