If we sin as believers we are to confess our sin (to God) and He forgives based on the blood of Christ. Even as believers who are forgiven, our closeness to God can be marred by sin. This is the remedy by which we can regain that closeness. God expects us to be no less forgiving with our brothers and sisters in Christ. Do we "have to forgive?" I don't know, but I do know that one who refuses to forgive probably has little to no understanding of the depravity of sin and the lengths to which God went to provide his/her forgiveness. Such a believer will have severe dealings with God.

if, by the three major monotheistic religions you mean Judaism, Islam and Christianity, its all just based on their messiahs and holy books Religion- Messiah- Holy Book Judaism - No Messiah - The Torah (i believe, not 100% certain) Islam- Muhammad - The Koran Christianity- Jesus- The Bible then there are a few morals that contribute to the foundation of each, like how Jews are supposed to only eat Kosher, i believe Muslims aren't supposed to eat pork, but i haven't studied that religion much, and christians are so divided that its different for each Mormons cant drink alcohol or do any sort of drug (however, i believe they are permitted to use certain, legal drugs like aspirin) and have many taboos on sexuality. Catholics are allowed to drink, i don't recall the bible mentioning much about drug use but i'd assume it isn't allowed, and they have less taboos on relationships, i think the only one is that catholics are forbidden to have sex before marriage, where as Mormons aren't even allowed to kiss until marriage. that's really just the answer in a nutshell, you can find alot more online and in libraries
